I feel like a Jerk

October 16th, 2009

I ordered a couple CCF t-shirts and magnets last week and they arrived TODAY. Someone manufactured stuff featuring a logo I designed.    Way cool!

Remember “The Jerk”?  Navin R. Johnson (Steve Martin) finds his name in the phone book for the first time and exclaims “I’m somebody now! Millions of people look at this book everyday! This is the kind of spontaneous publicity - your name in print - that makes people. I’m in print! Things are going to start happening to me now. ”

It may be a reach to draw a parallel between the phone book and logo wear.  Still…I know Navin felt.

Evolution of a logo

October 4th, 2009

When you have a web site you of course need a logo.  This was the first version shortly after purchasing the domain.  The glimmer of an idea.

CCF logo version 1.0

The second version looked much better.  I like the way the mouth looked more “smiley” and the candy corn is more prominent.  The teeth are a bit out of alignment up top and a wee bit crooked on the bottom.

The final version is what you see on the home page. Cleaned up a bit and more symmetrical.  I made the candy corn a little bigger and straightened out the dental work.

This one’s a keeper.

What is going on here?

May 12th, 2009

What is going on?  How did I end up here?  Not much to it really.  One Halloween years ago I grabbed a couple candy corns, put ‘em between by teeth and gums and did a “Hey, look at me!”  A couple friends laughed.  Most shook their heads in a “That’s funny, but don’t encourage him” sort of way.  Ever since it’s been an annual tradition during the October holiday season.  A couple friends have embraced the idea and we parade around with our candy corn fangs because it’s silly and awesome.

Spring 2009 godaddy.com had s $.99 domain sale and candycornfangs.com was available.  Click.  Purchase.  Own.  And here we are.

What will this site become?  I hope it will draw some traffic and laughs one month a year.  In time maybe Leno or Letterman will have a mug with the CCF logo on it.  Time will tell.
